Parking

Parking lots are conveniently located throughout campuses. Red, yellow, and blue curb markings, all no-parking signs, and emergency parking zones are to be observed at all times. Parking on or in front of ramps is forbidden. Restricted parking is in effect from 06:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday where permits are required.

All vehicles and motorcycles are required to have a parking permit to park on any campus.   Visitor parking is available in designated spaces on most campuses.   Palm Desert Campus in Lot 2 for 30 minutes on the southside of the Cravens Student Service Center.  Visitors on other campuses can contact Public Safety at 760-341-2111 for an extended visitor parking pass. 

Daily Permits for visitors are $1.00 and may be purchased at the permit dispenser in Lot 4, Lot 28 (South and Middle), Lot 23 (near Ag Science) or Lot 14 (Softball field) on the Palm Desert Campus. Daily permits are valid in any student lot.

Parking Permits for the Fall and Spring Semesters are now included in the cost of your Tuition through the Transportation Fee. All vehicles are required to display a Parking Permit, including motorcycles and vehicles displaying a disabled placard. There is no charge for parking in student lots during the summer or winter intercessions. Staff/Faculty parking lots always require a staff parking permit, and others will be cited.  For more information, please go to the Parking Site or call the Public Safety Department at 760.341.2111.

Motorcycles may park in any designated parking space and are required to display a valid parking permit while parking on campus.

Disabled Persons parking areas are marked with the traditional blue sign and symbol. Disabled parking spaces are strictly enforced at COD and must have a disabled placard, license plate and a valid COD parking permit. Disabled Parking Placards may be obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles and must be displayed when parking in designated areas.

Parking Citations

Citations are issued by the Public Safety Department and may be paid online at www.paymycite.com, by mail at College of the Desert C/O Parking Citation Service Center P.O. Box 11923, Santa Ana, CA 92711 or in person at the Bursars office.  To dispute a citation, citation contest forms are found online at http://dccdlfs4.dccd.cc.ca.us/Forms/CPV.  

Effective July 1, 2018: AB503 states that an individual has the option of making payments to their parking citation(s). The registered owner of the vehicle receiving the parking citation must show that he/she is indigent and in need of a payment plan. The individual will need to pay by the 1st of each month, as little as $10 per month but must have the citation paid within 6 months of beginning the payment plan. There will be a $5 fee to begin any payment plan for a parking citation. WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TICKET

The College assumes no liability for vehicles parked on campus. If you receive a a parking citation you can appeal it by clicking on this link: http://dccdlfs4.dccd.cc.ca.us/Forms/CPV. Citation appeals are made online only.  If you do decide to contest the citation, keep in mind the following:

• DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. You have 21 calendar days from the day the citation was issued to request an initial administrative review.

• If you do not begin the initial review within 21 days, you have forfeited your right to appeal the citation at any level.

• Once you submit appeal forms, it is your responsibility to find out if they were sent to you or received by us.

The appellate process that the District follows is set by the State of California. Therefore, time frames and deadline dates cannot and will not be extended, nor can any District personnel waive or modify this process.
