Student Mental Health Services
The Student Health and Wellness Center (SHWC) is located on the first floor of the Cravens Student Services Center. All students pay a fee each academic session/semester to support the provision of physical and mental health services.
Mental Health services for students involve solution-focused, short-term personal counseling aimed at enhancing understanding and resolution of current problems to aid in their academic journey. Individual in person sessions are made on an appointment basis with the therapist. Additionally, all actively enrolled students have free access to TimelyCare, which is a virtual care platform that provides 24/7 medical and mental health support, anytime anywhere. Through TimelyCare, students can speak with and connect with a licensed mental health therapist. The Timely Care link or QR code may be found in Canvas, on the Student Health and Wellness website or students may visit the SH&W and get additional support for TimelyCare. Students can access care from their phone, tablet or computer. For a significant personal crisis requiring immediate assistance, students may go to the Counseling Center or the Student Health and Wellness Center during open office hours to access resources. Students requiring long-term or more specialized services may be referred to qualified community resources. Self-help brochures, hand-outs, websites, and reading lists are available, free of charge, as related to mental health and wellness issues.
Health and Wellness Services for students involve a professional nurse who is available during office hours to provide services to students which include health evaluations, first aid, emergency evaluation, health education, consultation, vaccinations, limited laboratory services, and referrals. Vision screening, blood pressure screening, tuberculosis screening (TB testing), blood glucose. Free Sexual Wellness services and screening is provided by an outside agency at the SHWC. The staff at the Student Health and Wellness Center also process COD student accident insurance claims. Information regarding additional student insurance for sickness and accidents is available through the Student Health and Wellness Center. Additionally, all actively enrolled students have free access to TimelyCare, which is a virtual care platform that provides 24/7 medical and mental health support, anytime anywhere. Through TimelyCare, students can speak and connect with a licensed medical professional 24/7. The Timely Care link or QR code may be found in Canvas, on the Student Health and Wellness website or students may visit the SH&W and get additional support for TimelyCare.
