Kinesiology AA-T Degree

Kinesiology is the study of human anatomy, physiology, and the mechanics of body movement. Kinesiology majors are grounded in an interdisciplinary body of knowledge which encompasses the biological, psychological, physical, social and health sciences. Understanding how the human body responds to movement, exercise, rehabilitation and overall fitness are foundational principles in the field of kinesiology. Potential career paths include athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, education, personal training, exercise leadership and health and wellness.

The Associate in Arts Degree in Kinesiology for Transfer, also called Kinesiology AA-T, will be awarded upon completion of course work totaling 60 California State University (CSU) transferable units including the major requirements and the Cal-GETC GE requirements with a minimum grade point average of 2.0. All courses in the major must be completed with a grade of "C" or "P" or better. Students completing this degree are not required to fulfill additional COD graduation requirements.

Learning Outcomes

Upon satisfactory completion of this program students will be able to:

  1. Students completing the Associate in Science in Kinesiology Transfer Degree will be prepared to transfer to a related major in the California State University (CSU) system.
  2. Effectively communicate in writing and verbally on topics in Kinesiology.
  3. Utilize their experiences across a variety of health related and skill-based activities to inform their scholarship and practice in the sub disciplines in Kinesiology.
  4. Identify and analyze social justice and equity issues related to Kinesiology for diverse populations.
  5. Explain, identify, and/or demonstrate the theoretical and/or scientific principles that can be used to address issues or problems in the sub-disciplines in Kinesiology.
