The Film Production Associate of Science Degree provides students with the essential skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience to excel in today’s film and media industries. This program serves as both a foundation for further study in film production and a launchpad for careers in filmmaking, independent production, and small film/video business management. Students will also learn how to leverage social media platforms to monetize video content effectively. Beyond technical expertise, the program equips students with critical communication and storytelling tools applicable across various fields where film and video are integral. Graduates leave the program with a portfolio of short films and other projects to showcase their creativity and professional skills.
In this two-year, 60-unit program, students gain practical experience crafting visual stories that are intelligent, emotionally engaging, and impactful. The curriculum covers core aspects of film production, including screenwriting, production, cinematography, editing, sound design, film acting, and directing. Advanced topics such as post-production sound, animation and motion graphics, video journalism, documentary filmmaking, social media strategies, marketing, and the business of film are also explored, preparing students to navigate the multifaceted world of modern filmmaking.

Upon satisfactory completion of this program students will be able to:

- Demonstrate the expertise necessary to obtain entry-level or advanced roles in film and video development, production, post-production, and distribution, utilizing a comprehensive understanding of filmmaking processes and industry standards.
- Identify the entrepreneurial skills necessary to establish and manage their own film or video production company, producing high-quality short narrative and documentary films informed by a deep understanding of storytelling, production techniques, and industry dynamics.
