Film, Television, and Electronic Media AS-T Degree

The Associate in Science in Film, Television and Electronic Media for Transfer, also called the Film, Television & Electronic Media AS-T Degree, will prepare students for careers in the dynamic fields of film, television, and electronic media production, as well as transfer to a California State University (CSU) to complete a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Students earning this degree gain essential skills in screenwriting, directing, cinematography, video editing, and sound design. The curriculum emphasizes storytelling, critical thinking, and technical proficiency, empowering students to succeed in creative and technical roles such as producers, directors, camera operators, editors, and writers.

The program provides a strong foundation in media theory and hands-on experience with professional-grade production tools and techniques. It fosters collaboration, creativity, and ethical communication, preparing graduates to navigate the evolving media landscape with professionalism and adaptability.

The AA-T in Film, Television, and Electronic Media requires the completion of 60 CSU-transferable units, including the CSU General Education Breadth (GE) or Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) requirements and 18-19 units in the major, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. All courses in the major must be completed with a grade of “C” or better (or “P” if taken on a Pass/No Pass basis).

Students completing this degree are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, though not to a specific campus or major. For additional details on transfer and admission requirements, students are encouraged to consult with a counselor to develop an educational plan tailored to their academic and career goals.
