Marketing AS Degree
Marketing concentration focuses on markets, strategic planning, customer satisfaction, products, pricing, promotion, and channels of distribution, providing students with practical skills to build brands and businesses efficiently and effectively. Students can use their new skills to work as contractors or as part of a larger enterprise or in small family businesses. Students will learn to identify valuable target markets, develop cost-effective promotion programs, and gain hands-on experience in developing marketing strategies and plans. Students will be able to quantify the effects of these marketing strategies and plans in business. They will also learn about other marketing tools that can be used in a variety of organizations and businesses. This degree/concentration may also be appropriate for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution other than a California State University. Students intending to transfer should consult with a counselor to make sure that their education plan is consistent with this objective.
Upon successful completion of the Marketing AS Degree, students will be able to: identify appropriate and valuable target markets, use a variety of promotions to build a business, research the effectiveness of their actions, and increase sales based on specific customer/client responses.
Learning Outcomes
Upon satisfactory completion of this program students will be able to:
- Create effective marketing plans appropriate for specific businesses or organizations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and cost efficiency of marketing plans.
- Demonstrate the ability to convey an idea orally or in writing so that the intended audience understands the idea and includes the ability to conduct business research, analyze, and interpret the findings.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
